Description
Rare 1966 Jaguar MK2 2.4 Manual with Overdrive
If your looking for a solid genuine daily useable classic that is mechanically correct this is the car for you
The car drives superb and you feel like "Inspector Morse" as you glide along the country lanes
This 1966 Jaguar MKII is amazing value for money at only £12995
First registered on January 20th 1966, ‘JWY 606D’ was ordered in Opalescent Maroon with a full Dark Red Leather interior, Biscuit Roof lining and Red carpets. Fitted with a Manual Overdrive transmission, it was exported to South Africa where it remained until being repatriated in 2005.
The then owner totally dismantled the car and stored all parts in boxes where it was left until sold to an independent Jaguar specialist. During the subsequent restoration, the bodyshell was fully sandblasted, primed and resprayed and the underbody fully Waxoyled. The engine was thoroughly overhauled with the crankshaft re-ground, all bearings and gaskets replaced and fitted with new pistons, piston rings, camshafts, valves, rings, valve seats and shims, as well as a new water pump and oil pump.
The gearbox and rear axle were refurbished with a new flywheel and clutch. A new stainless steel exhaust system was fitted along with new suspension, springs, steering arms, swing arms, bushes and anti-roll bar. All brake and fuel lines were replaced and new brake discs and pads were fitted along with new front calipers.
The leather was fully treated and new carpets, roof lining and door cards were installed. All the woodwork has been refurbished along with the instrument dials however the woodwork varnish has lifted and could do with redoing to make mint as per the photos.
This bullet proof 2.4 engine that produced 120bhp in 1966 made this one of the fastest saloons on the road in its day.
The dashboard dials and switches are the same as a Series 1 E Type Jaguar
This car underwent a major renovation around 15 years ago and its in great solid condition throughout
The interior is very good as per the photos for a 59 year old car
The manual gearbox in this car is very smooth and easy to drive with the added bonus of having Overdrive which helps this car cruise along at low revs
The car is by no means concours its a very good useable genuine car that needs mild TLC but at the sane time its not £30k either
The paintwork has imperfections as per the photos but the car is solid and turns heads everywhere it goes
Brilliant rust free example as it had a full strip down bare metal respray when restored around 15 years ago
The engine has fantastic oil pressure starts on the button and stays at the correct temperature all the time
everything works as it should all lights etc
Genuine wire wheels
